The following courses offered by our Department are on symbolic computation:

**MA522 Computer Algebra I.**(Fall semester) Basic techniques and algorithms of computer algebra. Integer arithmetic, primality tests and factorization of integers, polynomial arithmetic, polynomial factorization, Gröbner bases, integration in finite terms.

**MA722 Computer Algebra II.**(Spring Semester) Solution of Multivariate Polynomial Systems, Factorization of Polynomials, Computational Number Theory, Differential Algebra

**MA526 Computational Algebraic Geometry.**Basic concepts of algebraic geometry (varieties, elimination theory, dimension theory, projective spaces, etc) with an emphasis on Gröbner bases as a tool to effectively calculate algebraic-geometric properties.

**MA792K Special Topics Course.**Our group offered courses on the following topics: advanced programming for mathematicians; Solution of polynomial systems over the real and complex numbers; symbolic analysis.

In addition to the courses required by the Department of Mathematics, PhD students in Symbolic Computation are strongly recommended to take the following courses:

- MA 521 Abstract Algebra I

- MA 522 Computer Algebra I

- MA 526 Computational Algebraic Geometry

- MA 721 Abstract Algebra II

- MA 722 Computer Algebra II

Furthermore, one of the three subjects for the **qualifying examination** must

be Symbolic Computation MA 522-722.
